Today I painted at Codorus State Park, Hanover, Pa. The sky was pink at 7 a.m. and the 90 degree forcast caused me to paint fast and I was home by 11 a.m.
I changed this painting today. I realized that I had made a big mistake in making the lake blue. If the sky is pink then the water, which is reflective of what is above it, must also be a warm, pink color. The distant hills will also be influenced by the sky color and atmosphere, even the reflection in the water will be affected. I think the painting holds together now. I guess I need to paint on location more and paint what I see not what I think I see!

Lovely Sharon. Yesterday's weather was extreme for painting outside.
Still wanting to paint at Codorus-Seems like a lovely spot. Much more realistic coloring with your changes.
