With snow that seems to have no end in sight and the cold chill of the winter winds sending me to my warm studio, I pulled some reference photos of flowers to get my inspiration. At least, in my mind I could imagine the warmer days of spring as I put paint to the paper.
The flower grew in my garden last year and the poppies from my mother's garden. I admire the work of artist, Karlyn Holman and used a little bit of the checkered background to add some interest to this piece.
