"Coffee Time"
8" x 10"
Acrylic on stretched canvas
This painting was done from a photo Lela Stankovic posted for the Paint and Draw Together Blogspot Challenge. I liked the chiaroscuro challenge of it. Chiaroscuro is derived from the the latin words, chiaro meaning light and scuro meaning dark. It provides such a dramatic effect. Of course Rembrandt was the master of this technique, along with Caravaggio...if only I could channel them. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. The lighting in this is exceptional, Pat. I think having the pot subdued in the shadows really advances the coffee cup and those luscious-looking cookies!
Stunning Pat! I love it, especially the cookie. I am doing a coffee grinder and cup right now. I hope it turns out 1/2 as nice. Great work!
Pat...this is cool!
I love the cup and saucer!
You did a fantastic job with the light and dark contrasts - it really does evoke the work of the masters! And a cup of coffee has got to be the best still life subject ever.
