Spangler Farm, front and back

Spangler Farm, front and rear views, in pastel
Julie's recent post of her lovely, soft and delightful painting of the Spangler Farm on the Gettysburg National Military Park reminded me that I'd done the same view nearly three summers ago. I did post the bottom image once before, but I'm including with it the plein air I did of the front (took me two days) that same year. I was struck by how different this home looks, depending on the side you view. The front is vertical boards and the back is a combination of brick and stone, apparently due to repairs from a fire. Amazing building! My work can be viewed at South Mountain Sketchbook

Nice post Dianne! I especially love seeing your interpretation of the same viewpoint that I just painted a few days ago.
