Still a work in progress.
This is based on an actual place up north from where I live. Came across a nice area during my day job of commercial painting and went back on a later date to take some pictures. Last night I decided to turn it into a bit of a fantasy painting. Originally I placed a small statue head in the water but changed that to a much larger one along the creek edge. The head is my own design. I spent quite a bit of time looking at different helmets from the middle ages and came up with this.
Nothing is finished. Quite a bit left to do. Acrylic on canvas, 12x16.

LOVE those colors!
I agree, colors! I also like the application. Not sure where you live but this reminds me of the stories of the Norsemen, who were supposedly gigantic men and awesome sailors.
Very thought provoking painting! This calm, colorful landscape includes a face but how did it get there? Is this a discovery of some sort that has appeared in the landscape from ancient times? Is there more to be discovered? Great job creating art that asks how and why!
Like this one a LOT, Michael. Very creative!!!
