Work in Progress, Rock Point State Park, Linda Young Watercolors

by  Linda Young Artist
Work in Progress:  Rock Point State Park in Maryland
Watercolor 9 x 12
While my husband raced his Formula Volkwagon up the hillclimb at Polish Mountain in Flintstone, Pa.;  I drove to Rock Point State Park and painted for awhile. Wow! The temperature just got too hot for me to finish this one today. The morning was breezy and hot; but the humidity and heat got turned on too intensely and after two hours, I had to quit. This needs a few tweaks here and there to put more color to the mountains and trees, add ripples on the water and deepen the sky. I repositioned the distant dock and took out the hotel.

I don't want to wish away the summer; but less humidity would be a welcome respite for the plein air painter.

What a great photo of your viewpoint.
I like how you edited the view and
made it your own!!!

I just learned today that the boat you have painted here is a 'cat' boat - I love that blue tarp! Great painting, Linda. I can't wait to see it completed!

Thank you; if I now didn't have so many tomatoes to can, I'd be completing this. Soon!
