Summer Water Series by Christine Goldbeck works in progress |
Right now, I am working on the series of paintings at right, using observations of what I see at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and Swatara Creek in Middletown, PA. combined with imagination.
Uncertain just now of which pieces will be installed next month at BWAC, I continue to paint others for this series, including two smaller textured encaustic paintings and a series of four, eight-by-eight canvases that are in the emerging stage.

"On the Pond" reminds me of a spring morning, April, perhaps, along the Swatara Creek. You see, even though I mostly work in the abstract with my paintings, most of them are based in reality. Spending time with "On the Pond" spurred me to create a diptych, "Misty Moments," which sold to a private collector before it made it to the public. (Believe me, that is NOT a complaint.)
Misty Moments SOLD to Private Collector |
Walking the pups one April evening, I saw the colors, textures and lighting that you see in "Misty Moments." As soon as we returned home, I came here to the studio to paint what I had seen and to, of course, put my own imaginative twist on it.
As of right now, my plan is that once I complete the paintings that will exhibit at BWAC with fellow members of DPP, I will continue to develop water series based on spring, fall and winter and of the colors and textures of water at different times of the day and night.
