"Houses on Broadway, Jim Thorpe" and "Carbon County Tree Farm" by Taryn Day

I've just returned from a week in Jim Thorpe, PA, which was the place for the annual week long Day family reunion, this year with 18 people. I had a great time, despite some inner tension over how much time to devote to painting vs. socializing.

This is a small view of the fancy side of Jim Thorpe. Fortunately I had taken a photo, as it needed a little fixing up at home. I'm happy with it now, and especially like the nice big and blank pinkness of the house on the left.

The area is beautiful, simply beautiful, and I found the local history of the town and area fascinating. I highly recommend the No. 9 coal mining tour if you are ever near Lansford. That is one unprettified, honest and amazing tour, and not for claustrophobics.
