Union Mills en plein air by Dianne Lorden

Sunday we visited the Union Mills Homestead County Park in Maryland, at Pipe Creek. It was one of the less oppressive summer days we've had lately, and I created this 11"x14" plein air pastel after we enjoyed a picnic - it is pretty primitive, but does capture the warm, historic beauty of the setting, I think. The water wheel is functioning and all of the buildings inspire; it's a large park with history and many picturesque opportunities that make for a nice plein air outing. It might be worth a group visit!
