Titled: A Taste of Blue Heaven

This painting is a result from a visit a year ago to Ricky's Blue Heaven Restaurant and Bar in Key West, Florida. Here, we are sitting on barstools underneath the roof an outside bar that sits on sand. It is surrounded on two sides by Palm Trees and another side by a musician's pavillion and hungry people waiting to eat at this fabulous restaurant. There are chickens roosting in the trees and walking around with their baby chicks on the sand floor of the restaurant while stray cats find a comfy place to snooze on porches or in someone's lap. The cats just don't seem to be bothered by the cats or vice versa.
I painted this because I was captivated by the warm and cool colors of the bottles, their contents and the reflected light that bounced around and through them. The greens of the palms and wood shelving add an earthly feel to the complex scene and the setting sun cast warmth to it all.
This is my husband and my favorite place to go to and eat in Key West and we make it a point to go there at least twice during our vacation.

Linda, this is an amazing and beautiful piece of work. It sounds like a really interesting place and has me dreaming of The Keys!
If you can imagine the feel of the warm breezes of the Gulf and seeing the aqua colored waters and tasting the varieties of food there...it's a great place to visit. And the Key Lime Pie is to die for. Thanks for commenting about this piece; I'm glad you like it.
This sounds like my kind of place! Really nice painting Linda.
A great job of placing and painting all those different shapes, labels, sizes and colors into a unified composition--the shelving and the beautiful palm leaves tie evrything together--a unique and charming painting--well done.
Thank you Deb
GREAT job on a fun subject! makes me want a Key West Kicker...if there is such a drink!
I'm sure they could create one for you Bertie.
