Night Owl pastel by Dianne Lorden

Just completed this pastel, which will be on display and for sale at the Adams County Arts Council during August, at a member show called "Creatures Great and Small." What fun I had with this one! It's actually based on an oil painting that I did decades ago, of an owl in the same window, but during the day. I had an urge to make a night-time version, and so created this over the past few days. This is a different owl than in the oil painting (which features a Great Horned) - it's a barred owl that I photographed in a Florida wildlife preserve.
