'Watercolor Study of a Masu (Cherry) Salmon'

Transparent Watercolor on Crescent Mat Board
1st of 2 Images for a painting.
This Image is 20" x 8".
Non-Professional Photograph

Adult Masu Salmon in Spawning Colors after 3 to 5 years
of living in the Ocean around Japan.
There are 3  other Sub-Species of the Masu- found in Korea and Taiwan.
This Sub-Species is found only in Japan and
has a separate Parr or Juvenile Phase that last a few years
in the freshwater streams and rivers of Japan.
Each Sub-Species has different Parr Phase Characteristics.
This version is called Amago that goes with
this adult version. That will be the other half
of the final painting.
I will be working on the Amago Juvenile Painting
at a live demo during Foundry Day, Saturday, June 2
on the Porch of Caffe 101.
