Shearing Time, 16 x 20, oil on panel, Ron Donoughe

Apparently another painter loves sheep. Taryn just posted another great one, which makes me reluctant to  post this but I actually did this today. They are such funny creatures.

Got some nice news, I'll be in the Easton Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival.

Ha, how funny that we both were painting sheep today. Are we like sheep? I love the sheer acreage of wooliness you suggest here. I like yours better!

Nice work! You color is really good! This is a very nice painting all around. Line, the positions of the heads. Your color is expectational, though.

Great work from a fellow sheep lover.
Oh-What a tangled web we weave

In a million years, I would never think to paint a closeup of sheep-in a landscape, yes--but never eye to eye-but this arrangement is an "eye opener"--the five heads and squashed bodies make for an amazing and amusing painting--love the guy nearest to me--his head just straining to keep above the others--"Quit pushing!"

Wonderful Ron! The fleece looks so natural and soft. I don't know how you managed to do this with them squirming around.
Congratulations on Easton! That is a hard show to get into. I went last year for the quick draw and was amazed at the quality of the juried artists. I wasn't planning to do that again, but I might think about going to see your work there.

This is fantastic, Ron. I love the textures and the way they are all bunched together! Great painting.
