REDBUDS BY DEVIL'S DEN - REPOST
Gettysburg National Battlefield
An Original Plein Air Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

I have had several requests that I post just the painting, so
here it is.  I pulled it out of my pochade box and signed it.
I have to say that seeing it made me smile as I remembered
the beautiful day of painting!

Today was one of those perfect Spring days.  The
temperatures were in the high 50's, the air literally sparkled
with light, and the redbuds were in full bloom on the
Gettysburg Battlefield. Members from our plein air group, the
Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters, painted
on the battlefield this morning, and this is my painting
right before I packed up and headed home for the day.

I am so blessed to be able to follow my passion.

Nice job capturing some colorful moments at Devil's Den, which is usually not so lively in appearance. It's great you've been out there in the Park this spring, sharing it with the rest of us.

Thank you, Pat and Dianne. Dianne, I had my back to Devil's Den and (what I believe to be) Elephant Rock was just to the right of where I was painting. I loved that the little gully there was full of redbuds and even a small pear tree. A moment of Spring!
