So I just back from spending a week in beautiful Sanibel Island, Florida. I have wanted to retire there since I was 30 years old. Every time I go back there it just reinforces the fact that I want to live there....even when I spent a week there in August. This was a really special trip because my parents, sister, and in-laws all met us there to spend the week. The weather was splendid. Days were filled with 20 mile bike rides across the island with no humidity. Nights were filled with good food, wine, political debate, and stories of the good old days. All the cares of the world at home put on hold. It was fabulous!
So I brought home these gorgeous sea shells and am extending my vacation for another week by painting these beautiful wonders of nature. I am thinking of calling it "Seriously Twisted" because of all the beautiful twists and turns in these shells, and because that is how I felt when I came home to the forecast of SNOW in the Northeast.
I will post it when I'm done and I hope you like it!
P.S. Any suggestions for painting a black background would be welcome as I have never done that!

Gorgeous, Christine. Reminds me of the Dutch Master-type treatment of light and shadow. Such a lovely still life; the woodgrain is particularly well done.
I agree completly with Dianne-textures expertly and beautifully paited--I've been to Sanibel--so nice--I miss FLA too.
Beautiful! I'm dreaming of the beach and retirement!
Gorgeous, Christine. What a great way to extend your vacation!
Mmmmmm... what a gorgeous shells, Christine! And what you did with that wood is totally out of this World experience.
