graphite on paper
7"x7"
This beautiful horse pulls a carriage around the Independence Mall area of Philadelphia.
I like the combination of the natural elegance of the horse as contrasted with its elaborate and heavy bridle. I hadn't thought about any controversy over the way these service horses are treated until I looked up "carriage horse" online and found many sites dedicated to banning the practice.

Very interesting to see your characteristic style translated into black and white -- I like it very much. I'm curious what form of graphite you used -- pencil? Stick? (Probably not powedered.)
Amy-
I just use graphite pencil but work it over with stomps- erasing, rubbing, redrawing. On occasion I'll use powdered graphite as well, applied with the same old stomp.
Your work is always so full of personality and character!
You caught the majesty of the horse so beautifully, Taryn. This is a wonderful drawing.
Simple and perfect!
