VIVIAN'S RED BARN By Cecelia Lyden

oil/stretched canvas

11x14

A cold, windy, partially sunny morning was warmed by Vivan Brandler's hospitality, her green tea and home baked saffron bread. She opened her charming home and her beautiful property to us plein air painters.this past Thursday. There were views galore to paint and, even though I had to secure my canvas and easel from the cold wind, I managed to endure [ with the help of that warm tea] and produced a painting that I feel depicts a portion of her property and the weather conditions.
I've lived in Camp Hill, Cumberland County for 43 years and have never seen this stunning countryside in Dillsburg, 32 minutes away from my home. Painting with the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters has opened my eyes to new landscapes that are "just around the corner " from me.
My thanks to Vivian and I am looking forward to returning to the area to paint again.

You captured the filtered sunlight, and those gorgeous clouds perfectly, Cecelia!

Cecelia- those trees are so beautiful! The delicacy of your colors and brushwork work so well in this early spring scene.
