A Day to Remember
March 8, 2012
There's a reason; I believe, for everything.  On this day, I was at this very spot painting when a child in a stroller and her grandmother fell into the Boiling Springs Lake.

I dropped everything and literally, ran to reach for the stroller to pull the baby up next to that bench you see in this painting.  Grandma got out of the water by herself a little farther to the right where the tree limbs bend over the edge. Her cell phone went in with her and I called her husband to come get them.

Then Saturday, I called the husband after I finished working and he told me what had happened.  They were feeding the ducks when the lady dropped a piece of bread by the edge of the bricks next to the run.  Kicking it with her foot, she lost her balance and grabbed for the nearest thing to catch her fall.  Unfortunately, the nearest thing was the stroller the little girl was belted into and grandma and baby went into the lake.  Grandma received two black eyes and had a number of stitches over her left eye which was cut, I think when the stroller fell into her face.  Her glasses fell off into the water too which we recovered.

The ducks flew away when it all happened;  I left shortly afterwards too. Tomorrow is another day to paint plein air at the Lake and many others will be there too.  I think I may take up mud-wrestling if there any more "incidents"!
