"Crabber One" by Steve Wetzel 8x10 Plein Air

This is a Plein Air piece from a couple of weeks ago during a stay at Chincoteague, painted on an 8x10 piece of Judson's carton board. The marina at the end of town offered a sometimes welcome change of painting opportunities from the wildlife refuge.

Love this. Beautiful smoky colors in the background set off the brightness in the foreground so well. Love the brushwork.

Very beautiful piece. I love the detail on the boat as well as the misty feel farther out!

Yeah, I agree the gray sky makes this boat pop.

I really marvel at the on the spot artistic decisions really good plein artists make-- that placement of that boat, set against a grayish background--so nice.
