Candy Cane in Ceramic Pot by Christine Marx

Well, this candy cane has been tormenting me for a week now. I think I finally won!! The shading just wasn't happening and then like so many paintings it fell together in the end. This is a really small one (6 x 6) and was a lot of fun. I am going to use this on my 2011 greeting cards.

I have to comment again... showed this to my wife.. she really loves it too! It's such a small simple work.. and yet is so beautiful and warm. Makes you think of Christmas past. The candy cane is so well rendered. The whole piece... very warm colors. Perfectly done! You should have no problem selling this work but I'd think it would be hard to part with. Make prints!

Thank you so much Michael! And please tell your wife thank you. The candy cane was a bit of a challenge and reminded me of something Richard Schmid said out in
California this summer.....underneath this good candy cane is 30 BAD candy canes. So a special thank you for the compliment on the candy cane! If I do make copies I'll be sure to send you one. Have a wonderful weekend.

I love that candy cane! And the red foil, and the holly. Great painting, Christine.

Thank you Taryn!

Christine, I can almost feel the paper on the candy cane and you did so well with the paper on the candy kiss! I also love the "feel" of the holly leaves. Great job!

Thank you Pat! The kiss was inspired by your painting that I love with the dog and the hershey kiss in it! I thought it added such a great touch to the painting. It was a lot of fun to paint

Christine--what an amazing talent--everything perfectly composed and rendered-gentle, warm and comforting--puts me in an early mood for the Season.

OK - I am not happy about seeing all the stores start pushing Christmas at us SO early...but this beautiful painting of yours makes me smile and think of the simple pleasures of Christmas that makes me love the season! Wonderful!

Thank you Claire! I have to say I am unhappy about the stores pushing Christmas so early too BUT thank goodness they had the candy canes out two weeks ago! I don't keep them from year to year because the ants tend to like them. LOL.

Just have to add that I also love this. All the textures, the light... just beautiful.
