'Burnside Bridge'
(Antietam National Battlefield)
Oil
8 x 16
This is one of the plein air paintings that are currently in the
'Hallowed Ground - En Plein Air' exhibit until
November 27th at the Delaplaine Center in Frederick, MD.
It was such a hot, humid day when I was there painting at
Antietam, and also a day when millions of gnats were
out in full force. The funny thing is that when you are really
into your painting, the heat and bugs just seem to
disappear...until you come back to the real world!

Claire, I really like the way you handled the colors in this one; it looks quite vibrant and almost has the mystique of stained glass. Beautiful!
Beautiful painting - I love the colors in the bridge. It's fun hearing about the gnats too! It is amazing how we can get so lost in our paintings that everything else ceases to exist. That's one of the things I love too about painting!
