CROSSING THE LITTLE BUFFALO
Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Crossing the Little Buffalo'
Oil
20 x 16

I have always loved the mournful sound of train whistles,
especially at night-time.  It was so intriguing to wonder where
the train might be traveling...were there passengers on the train, and
what were those passengers thinking about as they moved
forward in the dark of night.

For years, I've have had my eye on this beautiful old railroad
bridge.  It is located off Second Street in Newport, PA,
and crosses the Little Buffalo Creek.  Last Fall I was delivering paintings
to the Perry County Council of the Arts, and was fortunate to find
'my' bridge in full autumn regalia, on a beautiful sun-filled afternoon.
I'll bet quite a few trains have traveled back and  forth
over this old bridge!

Totally LOVE this, Claire!... Those blue undertones behind of bridge are the perfect touch to pull it all together!.. What a successful painting! Congrats!
