This brick building, bright red in the brilliant sunshine, is home to The Rosemary House, a fresh herb and spice business that has been in Mechanicsburg, on the same street for decades. I painted this from a photo I took around the 80's. I revisited it lately and noticed some changes, but mostly it remains the same. I love the warm color of the brick and the arched passageway, which remind me so much of the brick arched passageways in many of the Dutch genre paintings. Many of those paintings have such warm light, cool shadows and crisp colors. I saw all of that when I came upon this street scene.

What a lovely and familiar site! I remember my mom taking me to the Rosemary House as a kid so she could pick up their famous "Roastmary" spice. You captured the warm red bricks and charm of this building so well. I hope you are planning to enter this in the Mechanicsburg show, Cecelia, as it is sure to be a favorite with many people.
What a wonderful warmth this painting has. I can tell you like the subject matter too.
I love how you captured the bright and sunny feel of that day. The shadows are perfect.
So beautiful! I love the contrast of the white against the red brick.
great composition and beautifully rendered painting!
Positively gorgeous colors in this, Cecelia! I recognized the location immediately.
My gosh! This is such a great painting! Love the color and love the design elements in this! A perfectly wonderful work of art!
The reds and greens in this painting are beautiful Cecelia. I don't even have to have been there and it touches me!
