Curlew Sandpiper in Northern Holland

Transparent Watercolor on Crescent Mat Board
Image Size: 5" x 5".
Non-Professional Photograph
Male in Breeding Plumage.
A vagrant to North America, it's migration route is
from the Arctic to Northern Africa, where they
are a common shore bird.

This was a practice painting for a live demo
of a Short-Billed Dowitcher I will be painting
on July 30th at the Ned Smith Nature & Art Festival
in Millersburg, PA.

Wonderful composition, color and detail. I even like the way the bird's tail touches the water/sky line.
