VIEW FROM LITTLE ROUND TOP
Original Plein Air Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'View from Little Round Top'
Oil on Linen Panel
8 x 10

Although today was rather overcast, it turned out
to be a wonderful day to paint.  I met up with several artists
to paint from the crest of Little Round Top on the
Gettysburg Battlefield.  From that vantage point,
there is a painting waiting to happen no matter where you
stand.  I've always liked this view through some of the
enormous boulders up there, and was rewarded to hear
quite a few tourists repeat my sentiments as they
stood on the boulders and looked out across the valley.

Of course, there were also several people who
apologized for standing in my way...then cheekily asked
if I would put them into the painting!  I said that I would do
so gladly, if they wouldn't mind standing there for a
couple of hours....

Glad you had a good painting day, Claire - and it looks like a productive day too with a great painting to show for it.

Really nice. Love those boulders and the view from the top. I wish I could have been there with you all. I already miss painting plein air.

Wish you could have been there too, Linda. I had so much fun painting with you at the Gburg Festival! We are planning to go paint from Little Round Top 9AM Tuesday July 5th if you would like to join us.

Thank you Claire.
The only day I could get into my orthopedic doc was Tuesday the 5th at 1:30. Maybe I could change it...I'll check.

Claire this is such a nice piece. What a treat for the visitors there to have the opportunity to watch you paint such a wonderful place. The boulders look great. This piece has that mysterious feel that seems to come over you as you stand there looking out over the battlefield reflecting on those years. You captured the scenery beautiful but I am amazed at how you captured that feel too!
