Self Portrait in Red, Maria Kovalenko Leysens

Well, I guess it was finally my turn. Thought I would do a self portrait for the daily paintworks challenge and I chose the red paper again. But I sat down to do a young woman (don't we all think of ourselves younger than we are) and found that she has been modified to an over 50 year old model.
It is ok, really... it is not so bad.

This is wonderful!! So skillful! I love the open, relaxed expression on your face- when I do a self portrait I get so tense I come across looking maniacal.

Thanks to all and to Taryn, I did this from a photo that I took this morning. I took maybe 25 or so before I found one I liked. It was hard to do... I prefer working from life.

I had to laugh at your words, Maria, for they are so very true in my case too. I think you look beautiful!

Very nice painting! I can relate very well to your words. My body is getting older but I still think like I am 45 or so .... until I get moving, LOL. I love all the colors you used to do this painting. Just wonderful!

You did a magnificent job with this, Maria - and once again, I love the viibrancy of the red background. I am hoping to do this challenge as well, and had to laugh when I read your post - it is a bit of a shock when we start to really take a close look at ourselves for a self-portrait and see a different version than what exists in our mind!
