New large scale painting by David Bottini "for Gabriel"

The spring is finally offering weather that matches the calendar. The wet and cool early spring really set-up the landscape for a rather spectacular show of saturated greens and substantial blossoms for May.
Looking forward to leading a one-day landscape workshop in June - going-through the steps of traditional plein-air to studio method.

Just completed a large (48 X 60") canvas that I have been working for 6 weeks ... having completed several smaller paintings and numerous studies after my on-site preparation last summer. Focused on the layers of foliage and the subtle variety of greens within the pictorial space.
As I worked into the painting, I was pushing for a looser and more subjective interpretation of the water reflections as well as focusing on the curvilinear motif that repeats through the shadows, reflections, and highlights.

This piece is set to ship to Santa Fe where the Canyon Road gallery that represents my paintings has gathered a nice group of my larger canvasses for the coming tourist season (hoping for a robust season with lots of art sales throughout the 200+ Santa Fe galleries.)
