Shrimp and Red Wine - in process

I finished up "Shrimp and Red Wine" today. It's a birthday present for my husband, his request for me to paint him something (which he never does.) Apparently, when he travels it's his go-to meal at every restaurant and he gets teased at work about it. So now, he will have it hanging on his office wall as well. I'm very happy with the way the color in the shrimp turned out. It was challenging at first but when I let go and had some fun with it the shrimp started to look much better, and more accurate color-wise.

Wonderful finish, Christine! I'm sure he will love it! (I'm also sure now he has to take you out at some nice place for little celebration with some shrimp and perhaps some wine:-)

Nice job. I'm having a glass of wine and enjoying your painting! All that is missing is the shrimp. I just love your delicate use of value and limited color.

A really beautiful treatment of value, and so sensually muted. I really like the way the reflection in the wine glass is such a powerful componant of the composition.

I think you positively NAILED the color of the shrimp - I feel as thought I could reach into your painting and pull one out to sample!
