"Fishing at Dusk on the Anclote" by Dianne Lorden
Pat Koscienski's gorgeous "Fly Fisherman" reminded me of the (I think!) only pastel I've ever done of someone fishing. This is from a couple of years ago -- pastels were even more of a mystery to me then than they are now -- and I was trying to capture the amazing appearance of the last light of the day on this peaceful scene. I was pretty green at the medium, but it did sell. The Anclote River is off the Gulf Coast of Florida, north of Tampa. View my artwork at South Mountain Sketchbook

You captured that light beautifully, Dianne--I do not fish, but that setting looks so peaceful, reassuring and inviting.
The colors in this painting are beautiful, Dianne. And, the fisherman fits perfectly; really adds to the painting. I can see why it sold.
Dianne, this is gorgeous. God's country indeed.
I simply love this painting!!!
Even without the fisherman- which draws me to it, by itself- I love the texture, color, hue and feel that comes through this painting!
6 stars out of 5!
Great sky!!
What beautiful colors - and perfect for the time of day. I love this one, Dianne.
Thanks everyone; I think the message I'm getting is to find a way to keep that youthful quality of being new to a medium, even after you're more "studied." How difficult that is!
Such a serene, beautiful piece. I just love looking at the peacefulness of this one.
