'Gathering Wool'
Oil on linen archival panel
8 x 10
This has been one of those days that when I got up and
got ready for my day, the rest of the day was decided
as soon as I sat down at my easel. Although it's not really great
when it comes to getting the housework done, it's a day
that fills my heart and soul with such joy - I am so lucky to be
able to follow my passion. Those dustballs will still be there tomorrow!
I created this painting to submit to Carol Marine's Daily Paintworks
Challenge - 'The German Landscape'. She provided two really great
photographs for this week's work, and when I saw the second
photograph my mind also saw sheep and a shepherd on the road.
It was fun to work with the reference and my imagination to create
photographs for this week's work, and when I saw the second
photograph my mind also saw sheep and a shepherd on the road.
It was fun to work with the reference and my imagination to create
something that was uniquely my own.

Claire, about those dust balls. Did you ever think that people have been pushing around and trying to rid their homes of the same dust for centuries? I think it's a good reason to let them go for the next generation to take care of. LOL
This is a wonderful painting of the sheep and the shepherd. Beautiful.
My cat DOES seem to love to love to play with those dust balls...all the more reason to keep them around...
Glad you like this, Linda - I had so much fun painting it!
Never clean when you can paint. Cleaning is to be left for when you have a creative block and cleaning has a wonderful way of dislodging the block post haste. The cool shadows caressing the flock are dreamy. Day well spent.
Love everything about this painting-the contrast, shadows, the vivid colors and the sheep. Especially the sheep since I was a sheep farmers daughter!
Another great painting! Love it!
Hey, I'll trade some dog hair for your dust balls. Nothing like painting in oil and having a white German Shepherd in the house.
Yes, I agree, clean when you need a break from painting- then it's therapeutic. Love the light, color and overall mood of this piece.
Thanks for your very kind feedback on this painting, everyone!
