Three Leeks by Taryn Day

oil on board
6.5"x 6"

I like finishing my paintings in one day, even if it takes me 8 or 9 hours, because then I am not as likely to get bogged down in worries and over thinking. These leeks just gave me too much to do for a one day piece, so this morning when I went back to them I tried my hardest to keep it feeling fresh. Such beautiful strong, broad, loose brushwork--great color palette--love it. I checked out your website --love all your work.

Wonderful post! My paints are in front of me and my current project on the easel. I need to get off of the internet!

This is beautiful, Taryn -- you've really got a terrific ability to get your form, value and color down effectively with just a "steamlined" use of brushwork and color. I'm anxious to see more!

I like the tension at the top of the painting where the leaves are sooo close to the edge,

Oooh, I just had leeks last night! Love 'em - and love this painting, with it's confident strokes and dramatic perspective. Really nice!

I like how you handled the space at the top of the painting. I agree with the others. Great brush work. It's fun to look at. Hope to see them some day!
