Patricia, I'm a dog person and a former "parent" to a Bassett. This painting has captured the traits of the dog perfectly. Nice job.

Like the impasto brushwork and the slight zig-zag diagonal that works from upper center (top of head) down through lower right off-center. Has a playful sense of massing - the basset comes through. Bravo and a bark!

I don't know anything about Bassetts'traits, but I sure do like the movement and the strong brushwork in this piece.

Oh, Patricia, you captured that look so well. I have a friend who raises and shows bassets and she has a lot of basset paintings I have done for her over the years. She would just love this painting!
