MOUNTAIN LAUREL ON THE RIDGE
Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Mountain Laurel on the Ridge'
Oil  18 x 14

On the mountain by our cabin, mountain laurel grows
heavily in certain areas, and I am always so awed
by the amazing range of colors in these beautiful wild
flowers.  Along the ridge where they are most prevalent, I have
seen the colors range from a deep rosy pink to the palest
pink blush.

I especially liked the way the light was shining through
this particular section of mountain laurel, and really
worked to get what I wanted.  What do you think?

You have painted the subtle, gentle beauty of these blush pink mountain laurel blossoms. The light behind the bush illuminates the pattern of the branches and opens up the space nicely.

Thank you Cecelia and Deb for your comments. I can tell by the subject matter I have been painting that I am very excited Spring is finally here!

Living in town, I miss the Springtime that comes to the mountains. These are beautiful, fresh and breathtaking.

I love how you treated the flowers as a mass and did not detail every flower. There is a soft movement throughout this painting - one of your best Claire!

The softness is enchanting, Claire. A lovely piece.
