Dinner Party - oil on canvas 24 x 30 By Christine Marx

This is my first commissioned painting. I was very nervous about doing a commission....would they like it? What if they didn't? Yikes! When painting works for the gallery there is not that pressure of a specific couple having to like what you've done. The couple from New Jersey that bought this really liked my other works but it was all too small for the spot over their fireplace in the dining room. So we met several months ago and analyzed what they liked about my paintings that were in the gallery, their likes and dislikes, and I tried to incorporate that with the beautiful French toile blue and white wallpaper that is in the dining room, and voile!

I am happy to report that they love the finished painting and I am over the moon with my first "commission" experience. I think I might even do it again!

There are always anxieties when doing commissions but it has not kept me from doing them for more than 20 years. I have never had one refused but I have done a lot of adjustments. Your painting is beautiful and congratulations on your first successful commission.

Lovely painting, Christine and sure big too! (I can not get over 16x20" and even that size feels huge to me).
