Wrightsville-Columbia Bridge 6x8 oil sketch by Steve Wetzel

With the sun finally showing itself today I took advantage of the afternoon to escape the hours of pre-game buildup to get outside and do another little sketch. This was painted from the Wrightsville side of the river from the parking lot of the John Wright Restaurant along Front Street. The attraction to me was the late afternoon sun striking the foundations of the bridge and the reflections on the river. If you're unsure of the structures in between the support structures of the bridge, they are actually supports from an older bridge which are still present. The day could have ended better though had the Steelers won the Super Bowl.
