THREE GRAPES - 10 MINUTE CHALLENGE
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Three Grapes'
Oil  6 x 6

This is my entry into Carol Marine's Daily Paintworks
Ten Minute Challenge.  The object was to take a canvas,
divide it into squares and then take a simple subject matter
and do a different ten minute study of the subject in each
square.  I chose to use a very limited palette, and didn't
have my timer in view, because I didn't want
my focus to be on the time itself.  Have to admit that I was so
involved with painting the grapes that I jumped each
time the timer buzzed...  It's a great challenge!!!

I can't believe you rendered these plump, shiny grapes in 10 mintes per square. That's pretty interesting and does sound like a good exercise.

Thanks, Dianne. It really makes you focus on the subject matter when you know you have such a limited amount of time. Did you get up and check the challenge blog? I was so impressed with what other artists were able to accomplish.

Exciting to see another challenge posted! This week the challenge is a rose! how appropriate :-)

Susie - thanks for posting your entry on the DPP blog and making me aware of this new challenge site! I am going to work on my rose tomorrow, and hopefully will be able to post it on time for heart day.

Glad you tackled this challenge...wasn't it fun?
Good idea to not look at your timer. I caught myself glancing over and going into panic mode when there were 30 seconds left. I also like that you changed the background color on each one.
