"Story Book Sea" mixed media by Dianne Lorden

I really just felt like splashing in the surf for a while, so worked from one of my older OBX photos. It was a delightful swim, but I think it came out rather fanciful. Must be wistful for the water! This is pastel over a watercolor under painting on 9"x12" Colourfix sanded paper.

Wow - this is going to make us all want to go splash in the water. The waves just look so amazing. The colors are gorgeous and really make us long for a warm spring day! Beautiful!

I am always surprised at the varied colors the ocean takes on at different times of the day and in different weather conditions. Your painting freezes the instant when those colors on the waves, the shore, and the sky appeared.
