"Off Season" by Dianne Lorden

What a difference a season makes! Last spring, a pair of robins labored over twigs, leaves, fluff and who-knows-what until this nest was anchored into a crook in the Japanese maple outside our sitting room window. This winter, the nest has (until recently) supported most interesting snow sculptures! Now it's all melted, and thanks to yesterday's blustery winds, it's looking like a real fixer-upper. I'm putting this morning's quick ink brush/colored pencil drawing in my garden journal.

The old nest makes a very beautiful and interesting painting. I like how you handled the snow against the light blue sky. Very well done.

This is such a fun, adorable piece. What fun to be able to watch the nest and see all the transformations from your home. Great Job!

So delicate and, as always, beautifully drawn. A nice rememberance of a not-so-nice winter.
