My friends Claire and Pat asked me last night how my painting journal was coming along. I said, "I figured I had to go somewhere to paint something in it." Pat replied "no, you can just paint your toe"!
So, here is my "toe" for today. Waiting for my telephone to ring with someone calling to cancel an appointment due to the weather; I sat by a cozy fire, a hot cup of coffee and an empty bowl of cereal sitting by my side.
By this writing, one has cancelled and another one is yet to show up. Oh well, what could be better? Yes! More painting today would be wonderful.

I love your idea of a painting journal, and it gives you the chance to make such fun stress-free illustrations as this one.
I'm keeping a nature/garden journal this year - so far a lot about snow and ice! But, also the busy birds, bunny tracks and more - and it too offers a venue for quick sketches. Thanks for this wonderful post.
This is great, Linda, not to waste time waiting and spend every minute doing something you love to do.
