Beach Kids of the Jersey Shore by Linda Young

Beach Kids of the Jersey Shore
13 x 21 Watercolor
Linda Young, artist

The children in this painting are Alexandra; her brother Charlie and cousin Amelia at play in the sand at the Jersey Shore last summer.  "Alex" and "Charlie" are my grandchildren.  They spend nearly every day at the beach over summer vacation. This day was just a little hazy. Lucky for them they only live a few minutes away!

With last night's snow, I could use some of this sunshine and warmth!

Linda, you've captured so well the fun and focus that children have when they play at the beach. Love it.

Love this, Linda - it makes me want to be sitting right there on that warm beach watching the children play in the water. Fantastic!

This turned out so exquisitely beautiful, Linda! I hope you keep this one for your very own.

Really love how you kept the water and all the surrounding elements very high key and then used bright contrasting colors in the children.

I agree with Deborah-the fun and focus of children are perfectly expressed.

Thank you all, it will probably be one painting that stays in the family.

Thank you Ron and Kathy. I really do appreciate everyone's comments about this piece ♥. Note, though, I hadn't officially signed it when this was taken!!! So, I did a little correction, lifting and detailing in places...then, the little voice said "stop NOW and sign it before you mess it up!". (Has anyone else heard that?) :D
I'll post the finished piece on my blog and website tomorrow; I hope I get a good photo.
