PASTEL MORNING SKY By Cecelia Lyden

acrylic
11x14

Florida has been much warmer this winter and I'm wondering if the difference in the temperatures might be the reason the sunrises have been so much less intense than they were last year.

Atlantic Sunrise by Cecelia Lyden Acrylic ~ 16 x 20 framed

Most of the early mornings have been, not only filled with big, dark, puffy clouds, but also haze and fog. Anyway, this morning I worked fast and tried to capture the beautiful yellow light near the horizon, followed by pinkish clouds, the huge dark oninous cloud, which was rapidly breaking up and then the bright blue sky color , where the dark clouds had dispersed. It was early and no boats were out yet-just a couple of soaring birds. What a sight!

Wow, such contrast between these two. You must have worked plenty fast enough, as they are lovely. I really like that top one ... my first impression was "pure." Love it!
And I'm totally jealous that you're in Florida. It's so dang gray and cold here!

Dianne--the top painting is plein air, done today--the second I did at home last year, in PA
from one of the many photos I took-

Cecelia, I just wanted you to know that my bags are packed and my GPS is set to Florida (Oh, how I wish...). That top one is especially beautiful - Dianne described it oerfectly, it is 'pure'. We are expecting another snow storm tomorrow, so please send us warm, cozy thoughts!
