MONARCH
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Monarch'
Oil  6 x 6

I painted this for Lela Stankovik's Paint and Draw Challenge.
If you have a moment to check out the link, I hope you will.
What I like about these challenges is seeing all of the different
interpretations that are posted by each participating artist,
even though everyone is working from the same photograph.
The breadth of creativity and uniqueness of each painting is what
is so incredible.

Claire, that is a wonderful vivid blue you chose for the background. The contrast to the orange makes the wings appear to flutter.

Thanks, Julie. Although I loved the colors in the background of Lela's photo reference, my heart was yearning for the blue skies of summertime {{{sigh}}}.

Really pretty Claire, The butterfly seems very alive.

Your rendition for this challenge is great, Claire. I really like the simplicity of your background...it really "pops" your monarch.
