RED MAPLE SHADOWS
Carlisle House Series
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Red Maple Shadows'
Oil  8 x 8

I always love to see the flowers that people plant - no matter how
stately or humble the home, there usually is a pretty splash of color
blooming somewhere in a pot or in the yard.  Several summers ago, I went
around the town of Carlisle and took some reference photographs
of some of the places I thought would be interesting to paint.  This house
had so many things about it that I thought would be fun to work with -
the fence, the flowers in the window box and the beautiful
colors of the red maple tree shading the house itself.

Claire, this is charming and has me dreaming of summer again! Yikes, I guess I'm in trouble. Those little red fence-post tops really add balance, don't they? Beautifully planned.

As I sit here with an afghan over my shoulders; I'm ready for the summer again too! I like the colorful flowers in the window basket...oh heck, it's all beautiful!

You have established so many planes in this painting creating a lot depth and space. I can feel myself walking through and around in there. Beautiful, Claire.

I agree with all that it is beautiful! You pulled off this complex compostion with a great color harmony....love the cool blues in the fence and stone.
