Portrait Session, Maria Kovalenko Leysens

I had just over an hour of work time on this today.
Kind of had to "go with my gut" and just work on instinct.
I have to say it was fun.
16x20 on a new pastel surface that I made using
mat board, gesso and a pastel ground.
Not as much tooth as I would like
but I will make more since the price is right.

I really like what you've done here. You've captured this man's essence. Wonderful work.

Yes, the model is instantly recognizable, and Maria has painted his strong but sweet personality. Wonderful work, as usual!

What I like about your portraits, Maria, is that you not only present us with excellent technique, but also with the personality of your model. And, in a little over an hour. When working with a live model, I know from experience how difficult that is. Don't stop with these. They are great!

This is wonderful, Maria. When I look at this, I feel as if I know the person because of the way you have captured their essence.
