"Waiting for Mr. Red" Colored Pencil by Charlotte Yealey

I think the female cardinal should get as much attention as the male cardinal so I drew this to honor her. This will be one of my entries in the miniature show at Gallery 13. This image can also be found on products in my Zazzle store.

Very nicely done Charlotte. I don't think I knew what a female cardinal looked like. You are right the male does get all the attention.

So true - it is the male cardinal that gets the attention. The males have the bling!

This is a magnificent "portrait" of the female cardinal--the pose, the amazing textures, the placement of the head against that beautiful background--I can't say that I'm a bird enthusiast, but I love this bird.

Love that cardinal's "attitude", Charlotte! She'll catch the right guy with that, I think. I do like their more subtle coloring -- maybe even more than the bright red of the males.

What a wonderful perspective of the cardinal, you have captured her beautifully. I love cardinals, but alway get a little pang in my heart when I see them because they were an absolute favorite of my late mother.
