Something rustic yet modern - Mark H Brown

I found this scale at an antique store and fell in love with the rusted patina and water stained face.  Rusted metal in soft cool light has a great feel, with the warm earthy brown shadows and bluish to purple soft glow of the northern light.  Of course the bright red cherries explode of the canvas being surrounded by the neutral palette of accompanying objects.  The wood face of the box has yet to exhaust it's interest to my eye.

I agree with Charlotte. Your paintings are just breath taking. I am so amazed every time I see your work. You just capture the true elegance of each piece you do!

I have a scale just like this one--same wearing around the base and around the dial--exquistite realistic textures-beautiful "simple" background.

Those red cherries really do pop with the neutral background. Absolute perfection!
