AUTUMN LEAVES
by Claire Beadon Carnell
'Autumn Leaves'
Oil 12 x 9
This is the first painting I have completed from
the road that leads to our little cabin in the woods.
The leaves have been particularly spectacular this
year, and I wanted to capture at least one of my
favorite spots.
As I have been painting, a favorite oldie from Nat
King Cole started playing...so this has been entitled
'Autumn Leaves' in tribute to his lovely song.

Love the light at the top of the road. Makes me want to go there. Yes is was a wonderful fall. I took many photos to paint, but can't get away from portraits for awhile. But your painting inspires me. Soon.
Thank you, Maria. I have some more photographs that I took that are waiting to be painted, and I want to get to them while the 'images' are still fresh in my head.
It's great, Clair. I've performed a recent landscape study, compiling features common to a specific group of paintings that resonates with me, and one of the features is the shadowy foreground, much like you've done here. And the path draws you in so nicely. How sweet that you've got a cabin in such a setting!
I love that yellow tree, Claire! And I can just picture its presence, because I recently photographed one just like it up on Big Round Top in Gettysburg. Beautifully done.
such a friendly work, Claire, and happy like a sunflower!
Thank you Dianne - we have worked for over three years to build our cabin, and it is so exciting that it has finally become habitable.
I think I am going to enjoy the quiet atmosphere to paint...
Amy, thanks for your comments. I was definitely attracted to the yellow 'glow' that came off of this tree!
Thanks, Bertie! I consider that quite a compliment from you, our DPP Sunflower queen!
I love everything about this Claire! The composition pulling you down the path...the sunlight stretching across the path and bathing the tree...the purplish path contrasted with the yellow tree.
I enjoyed seeing your "pathways" wall at Gallerie 13 and this will be another to add to that series.
I especially like the way you have the foreground darker, which leads the eye in to that spectacular middleground. Wow. Love it.
Claire, this gives me such a peaceful feeling. It's soft and serene; you must have painted it with that same feeling as you listened to Nat. Nice touch of your brush on this delightful Fall scene...ahh...I love it.
This is a beautiful painting Claire! I love the depth and color!
