Acrylic on Canvas 12x16 "The Visitors".
"The Visitors" started off as a still life painting. But then, with all the birdseed everywhere, due to the feeder above, there were always visitors, and this picture just wouldn't be right without them!!! (A nuthatch and a chipmunk) Now I have 2 challenges ahead of me, after letting this one sit to see if there's anything I am not happy with, is a 12x24 of a barrel racer I need to start, and one titled "hunting season" that will be on it's way to getting paint on it today. :))) that one is 18x36, the biggest size I have ever worked with!!! It will be a humourous one, sorta like the visitors, but a little irony thrown in. :) Can't wait to see that one emerge!!!
This visitors one was fun to do, especially since it evolved a little differently than I had imagined. But isn't that the way a painting always goes!!

Beautiful painting! So colorful. Great idea including the little chipmunk..he put that finishing touch to this piece.
"Fun to do" and fun to view.
haha, thanks Cecelia!
hmuxo, I agree. the nuthatch doesnt stand out much, and that's ok, cuz he's not really supposed to. :) the chipmunk though, he's so funny.... lol. after seeing him out there all the time, I knew I couldn't leave him out! haha
I like the way the vine carries your eye through the painting. And the chipmunk is cute.
I feel an animal always makes a painting come to life! Great job!
Thanks, Julie and Thanks Charlotte!! :))I liked that too about the vine, especially since the orange pumpkin sorta ended up in the middle which was NOT intended, so the vines draw your eye away from themiddle. thanfully! haha... and I did plan the plant, because I thought it would be creative to have a plant inside a pumpkin... lol! THe chipmunks are funny, since they scatter when I open the door, but if I stand real still for awhile, they will come back and gather some more, till I move... LOL. The nuthatch and one chickadee or two will come eat out of my hand. I can put my hand out to the nuthatch and he will come right over. :)
