Day 63

When I found this red leaf, the bits of orange and
yellow in it, as well as those curling tips were begging
me to paint it.  After taping it onto a support so that I
could study it and begin the painting, I decided that the
masking tape was going to become a part of the
painting itself.   What do you think - do you think
that it works?

I think your painting reminds me of the work of trompe l'oeil painter, John Peto. He set up some of his still life paintings by tacking objects on to a wall in interesting compositions. He would include the tacks, string, nails etc in the composition. So yes, it worked for Peto and it works for you.

I love the tape!

I agree. The tape adds a nice touch. It takes courage to do that

I agree with Cecelia, the tape adds a trompe l'oeil quality. When you hang this painting on the wall it will create the illusion that the leaf is hanging there rather than laying on a table. Nice!
