My Lost Work
Every great artist has to have a lost work, right?
This was another of my waterfall paintings I did many moons ago. The setting is the bottom of Adam's Falls in Rickett's Glen park.
It was sold the very week I hung it in a local restaurant, about two weeks after finishing it. Spoke to the buyer a few years back and she admitted the painting was lost. Unfortunately, she had gone through a separation, moved and sometime after all the dust settled the painting was gone. I was younger then and took a lousy image. This is scanned from that image so it's somewhat poor quality. Acrylic. I don't remember the exact size, but it was fairly large. Approx. 26x30.

How could someone loose such a special work?! Your painting shows such amazing detail. I have been to Ricketts Glenn several times and love it there.
It sounded like things had gotten a little messy in a relationship she was having. Both of them moved and went their separate ways and later realized the painting was gone and she couldn't locate it. She had no idea where it was, whether he took it or someone else did.
Wish I had some better pictures of it.
I imagine more than a few of us have a story or two like this.
Michael--don't have your email, so I am using this comment section to relay that there will be a parade of Civil War re-enactors this Saturday in Harrisburg at 9:00 A.M. starting at the Forum. They are commemorating the Black Civil War soldiers who were excluded from the 1865 Grand Review military parade in Washington DC. Harrisburg's Equal Rights League oraganized their own parade back then. Sixteen uniformed regiments and descendents will march on Sat. I think this should be special and thought you might be interested in the event.
Thanks so much for this. As of now, I am working this Saturday and don't think I will be able to attend. I will see what I can do, though. I appreciate this and yes, it would be a very special event to attend.

Another beautiful painting, Michael!
